Celebrating the 2020 Clare Blase Spirit Award Winners!
The Clare Blase Spirit Award was created in 2012 to honor the memory of Clare Blase and her enthusiasm, determination, and inspirational leadership in raising funds and awareness for Pedal the Cause and cancer research. The award is given annually to young riders who embody the spirit of Clare.
Three amazing young Pedal the Cause participants were selected as winners for their incredible achievements in 2020: Natalee (age 12), Drew (age 7) and Marah (age 12).
Natalee, Age 12
Natalie was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis after a bike accident in August of 2015. Her treatment was made possible by funding through Pedal the Cause. In 2020, Natalee participated in Pedal the Cause as a fundraiser as well as through the Ride for a Child program. Natalee’s family and community rallied around her. Last year, she was a King of the Mountain fundraiser!
Drew, Age 7
Drew was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2019 and shortly after, decided to participate in Pedal the Cause. For his seventh birthday, Drew asked for donations to Pedal the Cause and raised $3,267! Today, he’s doing great. Drew just celebrated one year of being cancer-free!
Marah, Age 12
For her Bat Mitzvah, Marah held her own fundraiser event called “Marah’s Mitzvah Miles.” More than 50 kids participated and Marah raised more than $8,000! Her awesome story was covered recently in the Jewish Light (click here to read it!). We are so impressed with Marah’s dedication and commitment to Pedal the Cause.
Congratulations to our 2020 Clare Blase Spirit Award winners, Natalee, Drew and Marah! You inspire us with your dedication and commitment to creating a world without cancer.
