Your Rider & Spinner Questions Answered:
We’re happy to say that Spin the Cause is not replacing the ever-popular Spin Zone during Pedal the Cause Weekend. Spin the Cause is introduced as a fundraising and cycling challenge that engages our regional community to generate vital research dollars for Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
We all have been affected by cancer. Only through raising funds to support vital cancer research will we ever reach our goal of creating a world without cancer. Each rider and spinner commit to raising a certain amount of money (dependent on the course they have chosen), 100% of which funds world class cancer research here in St. Louis. If one chooses to participate in Spin the Cause and Pedal the Cause , the fundraising commitment is simply the sum of both commitments. If by October 31, 2020 that rider or spinner has not raised the amount of money they have committed to, their credit card they entered at registration will be charged the difference. The terms and conditions are clearly outlined in our Fundraising Agreement & Liability Waiver that participants must agree to upon registration. Note that rider commitments are separate from registration fees. If you have any further questions please contact our office, firstname.lastname@example.org or 314.787.1990.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND CREATING A FUNDRAISER THROUGH FACEBOOK! Share your profile on Facebook to ask for donations, but when asked if you would like to add the “Donate” button to your post, click NO. This will then post your profile link, and allow people to donate directly to your page. When you create a fundraiser via Facebook by adding the “Donate” button to your post about Pedal the Cause, what you actually agree to do is to make a donation to their charity partner Network for Good. They inform you that they will deliver the funds to the charity you designate (in this case Pedal the Cause) in 60-75 days. When they do send us the money, it is aggregated and without either donor or rider information. It is very hard for us to match these Facebook donations to our riders without any donor data, and that is why there is no way for us to add them to your rider profile without having your donor data. If you have donations made to you via Facebook that you would like credited to your ride, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a screenshot of the donations made to you. We will do our best to match these with donations we have received through Network for Good.

All of Saturday’s rides include paved road and gravel. We recommend riding these courses with a gravel bike, mountain bike, or hybrid. The Katy Classic can be ridden on any bike, but you may be less comfortable on a road bike.
If one is already signed up for riding on Pedal Weekend, adding an additional day costs $25 for registration, and combines fundraising commitments for a sum-of-the-parts fundraising minimum. For example, riding the Hamburg Hammer on Saturday, and the Century on Sunday, would combine the fundraising commitments to a total of $1,500, or $975 with the early bird rate.

You can always go up in mileage and fundraising commitments, but you can only go down in mileage and fundraising commitments before August 1. If you would like to change your mileage and registered Early Bird (before July 1), the Early Bird fundraising commitment will still be acknowledged (e.g., if you’re riding 20 miles and would like to change to the 100 mile course and had originally registered during the Early Bird, your new fundraising commitment will go from $375 to $600. If you would like to go from 20 to 100 miles and did not register during the Early Bird period [after July 1], your fundraising commitment will go from $500 to $1,000). From August 1 through September 29, fundraising commitments can only be increased. If you would like to lower your distance at this time, your fundraising commitment will remain the same (e.g., if you’re riding 100 miles and would like to switch to 20 miles, you are able to, but your fundraising minimum will stay to what you originally committed). If you would like to increase in distance and you registered during the Early Bird period (before July 1), the Early Bird fundraising will be acknowledged. If you would like to change your course please contact us at email@example.com.
We’ve selected a very scenic route through St. Louis County, keeping in mind that riders of all levels will be participating. For more specific information about each course, visit our Courses page.
