Position: Senior Community Engagement Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations and Community Engagement

Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000

Organization Mission: The Pedal the Cause mission is to provide critical funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital through our annual cycling challenge. It is our hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.

Position Overview: The position is a key member of the Pedal the Cause operations team with the primary role of developing and managing teams and participants for peer-to-peer fundraising. This includes creating the strategic planning, recruitment, coordination, and ongoing communications with teams and riders.

Position Responsibilities

  • Actively drive participant registrations to meet the organizational annual ridership and budgetary goals for peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Manage team captains and serve as main point of contact, partnering with them in team activation, goal setting, and creative brainstorming to maximize their fundraising efforts.
  • Cultivate riders and teams to deeper engagement, increase their fundraising goals and outcomes.
  • Strategically implement, execute, evaluate and revise (as needed) ongoing community outreach efforts and year-round team recruitment, retention, and cultivation programs.
  • Actively recruit new riders and teams, maintain retention efforts of existing participants and work to re-engage lapsed riders and teams.
  • Cultivate riders to reach for incentive levels of fundraising.
  • Lead participant incentive strategy to grow each incentive level by more participants and more dollars raised.
  • Liaison for Incentive & Fundraising Sub-Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Support Pedal the Cause operations team in the ideation and recruitment strategies, and implementation year-round Pedal the Cause events, including event weekend, top fundraiser, podium, check presentation, kids challenge, ride for a child, and training rides.
  • Provide administrative support to operations team, including creation of reports, mailing lists, and other requests as needed, including management and delegation of projects to the Community Engagement Coordinator.
  • Provide excellent customer services to all Pedal the Cause stakeholders and is responsive to support requests received via email and phone.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in development, sales or marketing preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously while meeting required deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Passion for Pedal’s mission, storytelling, and community engagement.
  • Ability to operate in and to promote a culture of high performance.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check, reference checks and drug screening.
  • Active bike rider (a plus, not required).
  • St. Louis based opportunity- primarily in person role with the flexibility to work from home

  • Willingness to work several weekends and evenings throughout the year during lead-up and during the main event.

Position: Community Engagement Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Operations and Community Engagement

Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000

Position Overview: The Community Engagement Coordinator is a key member of the organization’s team, as the primary responder for all incoming inquiries via phone and email, providing support and troubleshooting assistance as needed regarding event registration, team activation, individual engagement, and other issues. In addition, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for recruitment efforts and revenue support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides first class customer service to both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Primary responder for incoming inquiries via phone and email, providing support and troubleshooting assistance as needed, routing to appropriate staff when necessary.
  • Assistance with preparation of reports and presentation materials for meetings and events.
  • Leads recruitment efforts for Kids Challenge and Ride for a Child Program.
  • Supports operations team with outreach efforts to prospective teams, sponsors, and donors.
  • Support Pedal the Cause operations team in the ideation and implementation of year-round Pedal the Cause events, including kids challenge, ride for a child, event weekend, top fundraiser, podium, check presentation, and training rides.
  • Maintenance of organizational calendar to ensure proper scheduling of meetings and events, reserving spaces for internal meetings when appropriate.
  • Preparation and execution of organizational mailings including event invitations, annual report, year-end appeal, and constituent acknowledgement letters.
  • Management of office supply inventory and maintenance of the copy machine.
  • Fulfills Pedal the Cause shop orders and mailings.
  • Staff lead on DIY fundraising program.
  • Reports to the Director of Operations and Community Engagement, with some additional reporting to the Senior Community Engagement Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • High level of competence with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously while meeting required deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Understanding and experienced with database management and strong ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Positive attitude and outgoing personality, willing to take initiative with the ability to work independently and on collaborative teams.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and change gears quickly.
  • Passionate about being an advocate for Pedal the Cause.
  • Interest in cycling is a plus.
  • St. Louis based opportunity – primarily in office role with flexibility to work from home
