Registration opens Tuesday, March 1

Pedal the Cause, presented by Edward Jones, is thrilled to return for its thirteenth year of raising critical funds for cancer research with an exciting lineup of cycling and community events Friday, September 23, through Sunday, September 25, throughout the Chesterfield Valley, centered at Chesterfield Mall. In-person participation includes ten different rides and three spin opportunities. Participants of all ages can join the cause remotely through the Inspired virtual option. The Pedal the Cause Kids Challenge returns Saturday, September 17, as a standalone event. Registration for Pedal the Cause 2022 opens to the public on Tuesday, March 1. As always, 100% of funds raised from Pedal the Cause support cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

“The Pedal the Cause community never ceases to amaze,” said Pedal the Cause Executive Director David Drier. “Despite all the challenges, we raised more than $4 million for cancer research in 2021. We look forward to welcoming our participants and supporters back in 2022 for another successful year. There are so many ways to participate, and each dollar moves us closer to creating a world without cancer.”

The weekend celebration begins on Friday, September 23, with Taste the Cause, sponsored by True Refrigeration, and an Inspirational Program taking place that evening. In-person ride options include five courses on Saturday, September 24, and three Spin Zone sessions and five courses on Sunday, September 25. Saturday’s courses feature two gravel rides, as well as the addition of a flat Century Ride. The Inspired virtual option, first introduced in 2020, allows participants the flexibility to create their own activity (such as walking, running, biking, swimming, or hiking) to fulfill their athletic challenge as a supporter of Pedal the Cause.

The Pedal the Cause Kids Challenge will be Saturday, September 17, at the Chesterfield Mall. Two course options will be available for kids ages 5-8, and kids ages 9-12 can choose from three available courses. Activities, food, and entertainment will be offered throughout the event.

In-person rides will feature several COVID-19 safety measures including staggered start times for each ride to maintain social distancing, modified food handling, increased cleaning and sanitizer stations and other measures as recommended by the St. Louis County Health Department. Pedal the Cause has a Medical Advisory Committee to provide additional guidance and support.

Pedal the Cause will offer training rides in the spring and summer months. A World Without Cancer Day will return on Friday, August 5, with local restaurants and retailers donating a percentage of sales to Pedal the Cause.

“It’s such a joy to see our community join together for Pedal the Cause, and we’re thrilled to be able to gather in person this year for events like the Kids Challenge, Taste the Cause, and our Inspirational Program,” said Ashley Saitta, Director of Operations and Community Engagement. “We are glad to offer something for everyone and to provide many different ways to support cancer research throughout the entire year.”

Registration for Inspired is $50. Registration for in-person is $125 for one day and $175 for two days. Fundraising commitments for Inspired and in-person participation vary based on course selection. Early bird registration rates are available through April 30 and early bird fundraising rates are available through June 30. Registration for the Kids Challenge is $50.
